Our clients appreciate what JCCB does for them but when you actually have a parent say ‘I will not take a gift if I may have something else for one of my children’, it makes us realize the difference we make in people's lives! The excitement shown by our volunteers in preparation for the actual HOLIDAY SHOP is only exceeded by the warmth and thanks that we feel at the end of SHOP time!”

"The enthusiasm and dedication displayed by volunteers in the Grocery Department to assist our fellow Johnson County residents is simply wonderful. And to experience the appreciative looks and words from our clients more than compensates for exhaustion and an aching body."
- Bill Plant, JCCB Grocery Co-Chairman, involved for 18 years |

I am continually moved by the stories we hear as we talk to people asking to participate in our holiday shop. The loss of a job, illness, a house fire, money that must be stretched beyond our comprehension all can force someone to need a boost and a ray of hope. To be a volunteer in the Christmas Bureau is a humbling experience, but also one that centers a person on what is important in life the need to respect and care for those who are struggling to survive on a daily basis.”
